The taxi driver didn't know who Moore Large were, but he delivered me to the industrial estate where the UK's biggest distributor of bikes reside. I was in Derby to attend the Haro seminar and score as much free stuff as possible.

I was met by the lovely Lauren Smith, who manages three brands for Moore Large when she isn't jumping things on the revamped Derby track or taking in the sights of the South of France. She introduced me to the Haro guys and didn't seem worried about what her colleagues must have thought about her chatting to a man with a blue mohican who was annihilating the buffet...

Pete Garski, Haro's Vice President of Sales was over from the states to talk about the brand and introduce the 2010 range. It says something about how committed a company is when they send an important staffer overseas. The audience was treated to a presentation of each bike in the range and clips of Haro staff riding them in an effort to show they're a BMX brand to the core. Pete happily answered questions, but the real stars of the show were the bikes, especially the new Race LT frameset and the custom blue paintjob sported by the samples on show. I was tempted to try and sneak one out under my hoodie, but it probably wouldn't have worked...

Available in a range of sizes, from Pro to XXL, the LT is a great looking frame that should compete very well with frames like the Podium in the UK market. Lauren and her Haro team-mates are lucky enough to be riding these in 2010, but the rest of us will have to make do with a regular paintjob.

All in all, a great day out, cool bikes, great people and some really nice Chinese mini spring rolls....
